What does it mean to be a 5 Star Hotel?

Do you often wonder what it really takes to be a 5 Star Hotel? Do you have to be a Ritz Carlton, St. Regis, or a Four Seasons? Some may think so…but I invite you to take a deeper look at what over the top truly means. Can what some see as “just an economy chain” hotel produce the qualities of a 5 star? Take a look at what the Adrian Super 8 travelers have had to say…it may change how you view a “top of the industry” hotel…
“Why can’t all hotels be this good?”

“For the price you cannot beat this motel. Very clean. Nice linens. Friendly, accommodating staff. Decent breakfast. We have gotten to the place where we don’t want to stay in this level of motel (Super 8 or Days Inn) unless they have very good reviews. This one very much deserves its great reviews. Thanks to the staff for making our 3 day stay a very pleasant one. It does make me wonder why they all can’t be maintained at this level.”

“I am from the Adrian area, but now live in Fort Wayne. Whenever we have family events, such a reunions or in this case graduation parties, we stay at Super 8. The bed was very comfortable, the room was clean and the customer service is excellent!”

“This is the 3rd time we have stayed here and every time, there has been nothing we would change about the visit. Has always been a great value for the money! Possibly the best part is the level of friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. I have problems with my neck and have trouble finding the proper pillow to get a good night’s sleep. During our last stay, the pillow that I used was the best pillow that I have ever used for my neck. The staff and general manager went above & beyond to help me obtain the exact same pillow! You don’t often see this level of energy in helping a guest these days. Thank you!”

“My wife and I took our first vacation in 15 years, and picked the Adrian, Michigan Super 8 based upon online feedback and reviews of this hotel. We stayed three nights. The grounds and hotel in general were clean and neat, and smelled pleasant. The room was clean upon arrival, and the housekeeper Fran was friendly and did an excellent job each day. The free continental breakfast was fresh and nutritious. There were many food choices such that any family or person should be totally satisfied. And free coffee and tea 24/7. There were many other eating places of all price ranges very nearby for other meals. The hotel staff on all shifts were friendly and polite. I booked the room online with requests for an accessible room and other requests. I was very surprised when I received a call from the General Manager before I left on my trip, to suggest a different room that was better suited to my needs, rather than the one assigned by the computer reservation site. It was a better room for my needs, and it was less expensive, especially after applying the senior discount that I forgot to apply for on my initial reservation. Now that’s SUPER service!! Overall, a pleasant stay with not a single complaint. A five star hotel.”

Any company can produce a mission statement and publish it…what makes the difference in successful companies, is that they follow it. At the Super 8 in Adrian, we walk the walk and talk the talk. Our management style is based on the need for flexibility and team work as essentials for successful operation of our business. In addition to providing outstanding service, we also seek to ensure all staff is treated with courtesy and respect. With strong leadership, we will manage employees with a communicative approach, offering a safe and clean work environment.

Being a part of the Wyndham Worldwide family, once a year we have the opportunity to prove ourselves and show our hard work to Wyndham. Of course, throughout the year our performance is always being graded by reviews on Trip Advisor and the hundreds of Online Travel agents that publish progress reports and guest reviews. We also have quarterly inspections by the owner of the hotel that proudly manages our property, Konover Hotel Corporation. But what we joke as the “mother of all inspections” comes once a year. We just completed our Quality Assurance Inspection with Wyndham and we scored a 97%! That is when we all sit back and reflect on the strenuous hours put in, the mounds of laundry washed daily, the hundreds of guests we accommodate and roll the red carpet out for, and the million other things it takes to successfully operate a hotel. And we can say…it’s worth it! Now, that is what we call a 5 star Hotel….
