Lenawee County is rich with history! Many early settlers were Quakers whose descendents were among those aiding fugitive slaves through the Underground Railroad. Today Lenawee County offers visitors historic downtowns and buildings, restored Victorian and Queen Ann Houses, museums, churches and many antique shops that enable travelers to capture a by-gone era.

A Carnegie built, castle-like Romanesque building,
listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Three floors are filled with paintings, photographs, maps, written
documents, furniture, dolls, glassware, tools, vehicles and more!
The museum is barrier free, has an elevator, plenty of free parking and is air-conditioned.

A historical museum site, and a Michigan State Park, featuring a Federal style farmhouse and New England barn used during the early 19th century as a stop along the Detroit-Chicago stagecoach line. The Walker Tavern Historic Site interprets Michigan’s frontier settlement and stagecoach eras during the first half of the nineteenth century.
